Aaron Copland
By: Katie Brower

Aaron Copland was born in 1900 in Brooklyn, New York. Aaron Copland died at the age of 90. Aaron had a lot of other siblings to help him along the way.
The many thing that contributed to Aaron Copland’s success as a musician and composer was his parents let him take piano lessons after they saw his natural talent as a musician. The reason why he became a composer was because when he went to Paris he went to a place where there were people that wanted to learn about being a famous composer because they all wanted to be a famous composer.
The things that he had to do to become a musician and composer was he went to a public school and studied music theory privately. And by the time that he was 15 he knew exactly what he wanted to be. He wanted to be a music composer. But he refused his parents offer for sending him to college. He decided that he wanted to study Paris, the center of Western music.
The things that were given to him to help him along the way was his parents let Aaron take piano lessons after they saw his natural talent on the piano. And also he begged and begged his parents to take piano lessons because his parents let their 4 older children take lessons. And so he got a scholarship in 1921, and headed off to France. While he was in France he met this lady named Nadia Boulanger, a brilliant teacher. And she had an incredible musical gift. And with his family’s help Aaron go to stay in France to study privately with her for three more years.

Clearly he did have help from some other people. And we all need help with things in some point of our lives. And there is nothing wrong about asking for help. We all need it don’t be afraid to ask.

We all need it don't be afraid to ask. That is the best piece of advice of all time. If I had asked for help a long time ago, I think my life would have, maybe, taken a different path. Why was I always afraid to look stupid or ignorant? Why did I not ask all the times I needed to? For all of you out there, musicians or not, this is the most important piece of advice I could give you, and I would like to thank Katie for reminding me about this..out of the mouths of children, the wisest of all!!
